Me and my silly crafts!

Might as well get this out of the way now! January 24, 2009

I just woke up from an accidental Friday night nap and ended up taking photos of the mookers. The only one not pictured is my tiny betta fish cuz she just looks like a blue blob.

Up first is Milton. He has those extra big ears and they make him look like the kid from “Mad Magazine” but in a really endearing way.

Here’s Lulu, who looks freakishly like Milton. She is only awake for about 4 hours a day and mostly grooms herself and eats when she’s awake. I don’t think she would survive in the wild, although she makes a fantastic pet hamster! Both of my hamsters were rescues, Milton from the MSPCA and Lulu from a nice man on Craig’s List who removed her from a neglectful home. It took a bit to tame her but she’s a total sweetie.

And here’s Mr. Euey in his almost brand new 75 gallon tank! He is so happy in his mini pond. He’s been with me for 6 years!

And the last inhabitant of my room would be me. Here I’m drawing which I hope to get more of done tomorrow, as well as go to my $5 yoga class (Om City Yoga!), make food for Sabie’s party and then actually go to Sabie’s party.

Not to end on a depressing note, but I can’t get all the budget cuts and job losses out of my mind lately. I’m trying to think a couple cheerier thoughts before I go to sleep tonight.

Sleepy AND hyper January 17, 2009

Pretty much how I’ve been all week. I can’t quite figure out if I want to be productive or just freakin’ go to sleep. Making that decision has been tough and has prevented me from both sleeping and productiveness. Right now my roommate is practicing her accordian, which I love because I feel very French with that as my background noise.

Today I read about a rare sleepwalking condition during which people have murdered others. Sleepwalking actually causes a form of amnesia for some reason and the people have no recollection of what they did. I smell a horror movie in our future!

I need to stop scoping out other new Etsy shops to see if they’ve sold anything yet. But there’s something comforting in seeing really great stuff that isn’t selling *yet*. So there might be hope for me too.

I’ve begun working on the social work zine! It’s titled Brain Suckers and is quite a short publication that doesn’t have much meat but is really amusing to create. And then I ended up reading about a zine called Femeninete that sounds great. They have a MySpace page if you want to check them out. I need to stop researching random stuff but it’s a great way to learn!

So nothing super exciting to report for Two Toe. I’ve been a bit under the weather this week so I haven’t gotten much done, except some postcards and pins. This weekend I want to churn out, like a factory, but without the environmental side affects.

Okay, I’m going to wrap up with this last thought: I forgot what company I set my blog under and was searching typepad.com. HA!

There’s a couple mysteries to me about the whole etsy process but I do have faith that I’ll be able to figure it all out or force someone else to. For instance, I don’t understand why my items don’t show up when I search for twotoe, as I linked them. Perhaps I thought I linked them, while in reality I was just sitting in front of the computer and blinking a lot. Otherwise, twotoedesign’s moving along. Check it out: TwoToeDesign.etsy.com

And it’s nice to have actual free time again, without my mind being obsessed with getting into grad school (and did I? Yeah, sucka!). Last night I had time to a.) get home late b.) ink some of a short cartoon c.) go for a walk d.) hang out with both my hamsters (yes, there are two now, let’s move on). I’ve also been formulating an idea for an underground social worker ‘zine that gives all the essential tips on how to keep your “listening face” on while mentally balancing your checkbook. Obviously, it would be what the young people call “a joke”.

Well, I’m still very excited to post pictures in the future. Stay tuned. Oh, and if you would like a copy of the short cartoon story, let me know. It’s about a plant that lives in an office, named Neil.
