Back in Philly. It’s so nice to be home. First of all, it’s warmer here. But still pretty chilly. I spent most of today getting ready for school and doing a million little things. I’m amazed at how much my baby hamster has grown in one week! I went for a walk in the Hamilton graveyard and found these neat seeds…

And started hurrying home when the winds picked up. Brrrr.

Here’s the sweet creatures I found at the antique shop…

This little cow has a tag that says, “Dream Pet”.

For New Year’s, I went to the Weston ‘First Night’ with my family. We got to go on a carriage ride, which my nephew and I are on below. He got his face painted and I got my palm read!

I’m so impressed by the face my nephew is making. He looks like one tough, tiny monster man. Getting my palm read was awesome. The man was lovely and gave me some really great advice and told me a lot of things that were true about myself, even though the only information I gave him was my name and birthday. It was kind of amazing.

I was organizing things for school and found this funny cartoon in my notebook…

Have a great Crazy Hat Day!

Then I ran into my room and he ran into the bathroom. This happened a couple of days ago, but I think I blocked it out of my mind.

Well, at least I am in my entry for this contest http://philmcandrew.blogspot.com/. You’re supposed to draw yourself at the age of 100. Here I am!

Tripping the handsome, young doctor while wandering the hospital halls shoeless.

Well, I can’t believe how pooped I am, but it was truly a lovely weekend. Yesterday I spent the day in Scituate with my pals Matt and Jen. It was like a mini vacation, being all by the water and lighthouses and jetties. And today I went to my brother’s Father’s Day lunch in Chinatown, which was delicious. I came home and napped for 3 hours with the cat afterwards.

Oh! I got some great finds at the Scituate flea market, which I need to take a photo of. TONS of books and some great brooches too. One made it’s debut today.

I talked to my own dad, who had to go because the fire alarm was going off at his work, ha. If I had a nickel!

Slightly out of it still so I’m saying goodnight now. G’night all.

The Devil Inside Me June 18, 2009

The devil inside me has a side ponytail and blue Nike high tops. She loves all things sugary, spicy, trendy and scandalous. But fortunately, I think she’s pretty small. For now.

So I think I’m going to be making more paper dolls for sale. Let me know if there are any ones in particular I should make.

The weather yesterday was lovely. Sunny and hot, with a bit of breeze. I rode my bike into Harvard Square and went with Jen to the Cambridge River Festival and then met up with my bro and his fam! Rafi kept asking me if I was visiting them and I didn’t quite know how to answer that. “Well, we’re both here in the same place, so it’s more like we’re hanging out together, rather than a visit”. He was not satisfied with that answer. I tried some pakoras from the indian food stand, which were unfortunately fried, but extremely good too. Afterwards, Jen and I went to Charlie’s Beer Garden and I got raspberry beer. Excellent. I love anything raspberry though.

I came home and watched “The Changeling”, which was horribly sad and made me depressed. I drew this lil toon because I couldn’t fall asleep…

Speaking of pajamas (!, no we weren’t!), here’s my other mini toon.

True story.

I slept way too late today and I need to go to the art store to pick up new pens but I’m moving kind of slow. Which is fine, I think, cuz the art store just opened.

Bleep, blart. That’s how I feel today.

Oh, this drawing is the inspiration for my next painted bag…

Please bear with me as I’m slowly trying to reduce the rough edges and appearance to the comics I upload. It’s taking me a bit to learn the best way to scan and draw them. But there is some slow improvement happening!

It is so strange to be making my own schedule now. I’m pretty much working everyday, even on weekends but I take breaks to go bike riding and hanging out with friends. My night owl tendencies are also starting to rear their tired head and I’ve been staying up semi-late working, while the mornings tend to be lazy. But it sucks because I LIKED being an old lady who went to bed early and woke up early. I always feel like I have a sleep hangover when I stay up late. But I go back to sleep after my alarm goes off, instead of springing up and getting to work. I’ll see how it goes, but obviously I’ll never be a drill sergeant. Sad.

Well, I have some new ‘toons that I’ll be posting later on and I’m also planning a bit of a surprise that’s going to be a new part of the blog, which is good fun. This week, I’ll be adding my newest creations to Etsy. They are original inked cartoons by me, in hand painted frames. The Girl is Cat Costume is already up (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25811284) and here’s a sneak peak of what’s coming this week…

These are extremely amusing for me to create.

The reason I woke up this morning is because I got a phone call from the Center for Cartoon Studies.  They said they could not attend the summer class I signed up for because it’s only for people over 18 (I’m 26, ha). Apparently I had written my birthday down as March 19, 1993. I’m such a friggin space cadet sometimes! I told them about the time I was at the dentist and put my birthday down as March 19, 2009. The receptionist was like, “Uh, ma’am?”. Numbers are not my strong point. I’m constantly mixing them up. As a child, I gave them little personalities and that was how I kept them straight but that got too complicated as soon as my school got into negative numbers and decimals. So now it’s just a big, numbery mess in my brain.

Okay, expect some ‘toons later on today!

Today I went to the most kick ass yoga class!

yoga

It was downtown in a spa and all pampering and whatnot. At first I was a little thrown off because the teacher wore one of those Janet Jackson microphones, which just seemed wrong, yoga wise, to me. But I forgot about it pretty quickly and got all stretchy and sweaty. Afterwards I got lunch with the lovely Leah and Anna in Harvard Square. Even though I’m still a little thrown off by the time difference from Vegas (they are 3 hours earlier), I painted some bags and did some drawings. I haven’t updated my shop in FOREVER! It’s pathetic. But from now on, I’ll be working most days on it.

Hey, I’ve been listening to these amusing podcasts of a show called, “The Children’s Hour of Knowledge”. http://www.hourofknowledge.com/, if you want to check it out. It’s a mock children’s show starring Profoctor Davey and his cohost Bongo McTweedlepants. Extremely weird and amusing.

Just stopping by to say hi kids!
