I have so much to share! (But not my cold). December 13, 2009

Oh my gosh, I’ve just been piling up photos in my camera, waiting to post them. Things have been busy this week and I’m shocked that today marks the last week of classes for my first semester of grad school. I have 3 papers due and only one left to write, yay!

And yes, I haven’t been taking good care of myself and I got a cold. One often doesn’t have great health whilst living on PopTarts and attending the lovely social work party with the open bar on Friday night. But I’m pretty sure that with enough sleep, I’ll get over this cold pretty quickly.

So, I wanted to share a craft I made, that I’ve hesitatingly named Judy…

Judy was created from a bored and frustrated break hour from the night I worked on two papers. At first she scared me, but now I’m quite fond of her!

An aspect of an outfit form last week that I really liked, although the whole look was too frumpy. I often don’t look good in too many layers because I am definitely not skinny.

So for my break today (I woke up at 1 p.m., by the way. Working for 2 whole hours before I needed a break), I printed off and posted these awesome theory trading cards from a website one of my teachers recommended. Now I have all my nerdy school heroes up above my bed. One day I will take the time to laminate them all too!

For fieldwork, I have to create a personality test based off the Meyers-Briggs and inspired by this awesome book:

It’s super cute with great little cartoons. They Meyers-Briggs is actually a really interesting system to help people understand their personality strengths and weaknesses so that they can better function in society and get along well with others. Want to know mine? It’s INFP. Basically I’m a super sensitive crybaby whose a little lost in my own thoughts. I have to say though, I am excellent with deadlines!

So I’m sooo excited to just sit back and enjoy the last week of classes. Here’s what I look like right now, between my cold and paper writing marathon…

A couple of quick animal announcements: Pumpkin, the MSPCA cat I posted this past Tuesday has been adopted! And my own new furry creature, Colette, is settling in nicely and is even learning to navigate his new exercise ball. I’m pretty sure Colette is a boy hamster.

Something cool! July 1, 2009

So I, like many others, pretty much stalk the internet for cool stuff to look at, to enter into or to buy. One of the more interesting sites I’ve found is called Yaami Handmade. It’s an online compilation of lots of great indie shops and provides an organized way to search for items your looking for. Yay for buying stuff!

If you’re on the other end of the credit card, you might be into some of their more unique features. Yaami Handmade provides a “free plug” for one item in your shop for 48 hours! It’s so cool! You can also “shout out” by replying to them on Twitter and it will show up on their home page. I personally found it a little frustrating putting in a request to have my shop added, but that was due to things like password characters and tag length. Otherwise, it’s an awesome resource! I plugged my dinosaur ring as a test run and got over 100 views.

All in all, awesome!

So I realized I haven’t been blogging as much this week. Yesterday was an official “sick day” for me and today was “clean up animals day”, which took up most of the morning. And let me tell you, a bunch of teeny eyes gave me mean looks today. The angriest was from Euey when he was getting a bath in the sink.

A very personal thing… June 17, 2009

My newest item on Etsy is pretty close to my heart. It’s a listing for a custom pet portrait but as examples, I’ve included 3 portraits of my very own loves that I wanted to share here. 

First is my “nephew” cat, Mr. Tobey. 

 

Next is Mr. Euey, who is my longest running roommate. The dude’s going to live to like 100, so I have a feeling we’re going to be together for awhile now. He really does spend the day trying to pick up chicks but what he doesn’t realize is that he’s looking at a mirror.

 

And then, of course, there’s Milton. This truly describes his personality…

 

Right now, I actually spend more time with these 3 guys than anyone else. It’s nice to have a way to toast their wonderfulness, even if they can’t appreciate art.
