Hey there everyone! One week before school starts for me and I’m trying to get in as much comic-ing as possible. In the works is a very short mini comic, a true story about me and a bug. Well, it’s true until the end. More about that lata! In my other time, I’m just spending some time at my parent’s home, driving them crazy by leaving lights on and fascinating myself with cable.
Another fun project has been a collaboration between myself and my long time friend, Dorothy. Dorothy is an awesome artist. We were in high school art classes together so we know each other’s styles very, very well. Dorothy has turned the project into a blog to share! It’s called on tap and it’s the drawn narrative of a beer bottle who is telling his and his family’s life story. So far, it’s a bit sad, but we’re still at the beginning, so hey, this thing could turn into a musical by the end! Here’s my latest page, which I am unhappy with my brushwork…

Too much of my shadow and brushwork really doesn’t tend to look good online, although in person it is more appealing.
I’m also still struggling a bit with the format for my newly updated comic strip, The Hard Shell. I think simple black and white, limited gray shadows and no panel outline look best and I’m going to try to develop that into a neater appearance.
In other news, life has been pretty good. Philadelphia has fantastic thrift store shopping (can anyone say 1940′s sailor top?) and I attended a crab party the other night, which had nothing to do with orgies and all to do with whacking deliciously cooked crabs with wooden sticks in order to eat them. I drank a little more than intended and have a very strong memory of attempting to remove a beer bottle cap that was already removed and walking in on some guy peeing (lock the door, damnit!). I also remember proclaiming the blueberry “amazing, but only at the crust” and talking about that for far too long. Oy.
Although I’m still having some trouble sleeping, I think that’ll be fixed once school starts, although over the next few days I’m going to taper down that pain at home by waking up earlier and a no nap rule. We’ll see how long that lasts…
